Mein Name ist René Weinert und ich bin bei der Firma magnussoft Deutschland GmbH als PR Manager beschäftigt. Seitdem unser Unternehmen die weltweit exklusiven Vertriebsrechte an yellowTAB ZETA besitzt, werde ich auch die PR-Arbeit für dieses alternative Betriebssystem übernehmen. |
Vielen unserer Usern ist magnussoft noch relativ unbekannt. Bitte geben Sie uns ein paar Informationen über magnussoft. | | Hr. Weinert | Die Geschichte der „magnussoft Deutschland GmbH“ begann schon 1982. Hauptaufgabe ist die Herstellung, Lizenzierung und Vermarktung von Software für den PC. Mittlerweile gehört das Unternehmen innerhalb Deutschlands zu einem der erfolgreichsten Spieleentwickler im Casual- und Budgetmarkt. Die aktuelle Firmierung als „magnussoft Deutschland GmbH“ besteht in dieser Form seit 2003. Begann man in den 80er Jahren noch im Kleinen, so bestehen mittlerweile weitere Niederlassungen in Spanien und Holland. Auch im Vertrieb geht man internationale Wege. Neben Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz sind die Produkte international in den BeNeLux-Ländern sowie Kanada und den USA zu finden. Den Vertrieb übernehmen auf diesen namenhaften Märkten teilweise Distributoren. |
Wie wurde die Firma magnussoft auf yellowTAB's Zeta aufmerksam? | | Hr. Weinert | Aufmerksam wurden wir auf das OS durch eine Supportanfrage, die auf eine Spieleportierung für yellowTAB ZETA abzielte. Dadurch kam der erste Stein ins rollen. |
In welchen Zusammenhang steht die Firma magnussoft mit der Firma yellowTAB? | | Hr. Weinert | Bis auf die Vertriebspartnerschaft des Produktes yellowTAB ZETA gibt es keinerlei weitere Verbindung zwischen diesen beiden Unternehmen. |
Haben sich Zeta selbst schon ausprobiert und welche Erfahrungen haben Sie damit gemacht? | | Hr. Weinert | Ich habe mich schon aus reiner Neugier ein wenig mit dem System beschäftigt und war ob seiner Geschwindigkeit und Anwenderfreundlichkeit sehr angenehm überrascht. Als PR-Manager überlasse ich aber das genaue Testen und Weiterentwickeln lieber den Beta-Testern bzw. Entwicklern. |
Könnten Sie uns die aktuelle Situation rund um Zeta etwas genauer erklären? | | Hr. Weinert | Alle aktuellen Entwicklungen rund um magnussoft ZETA veröffentlichen wir direkt auf dem neuen Portal www.zeta-os.com. Sobald es News über magnussoft ZETA und das Umfeld gibt, werden diese ohne Verzögerung dort eingestellt. Informationen die über dort eingestellte Angaben hinausgehen, kann ich an dieser Stelle leider nicht machen. |
Sie haben auf www.zeta-os.com geschrieben, dass es einen neuen Entwickler gibt, können Sie uns mehr darüber sagen? | | Hr. Weinert | Es gibt derzeit Einstellungsgespräche mit verschiedenen Entwicklern, welche wir aus anderen Projekten abziehen. Teilweise aus unseren eigenen aber auch von anderen. Wir sollten bis Ende Juni einen festen Entwickler-Kern von ca. 10 Spezialisten haben. Diese werden sich vordergründig mit der Beseitigung der vielen kleinen Ecken an yellowTAB ZETA und den in yellowTAB ZETA befindlichen Treibern befassen. Außerdem arbeiten wir an wirklich professioneller Software für magnussoft ZETA. Es gibt zwar schon sehr gute Software im Grafikbereich, aber gerade ein Office Paket ist dringend erforderlich. Wir haben die Arbeiten an Open Office bis auf Weiteres eingestellt und haben einen namhaften alternativen Office-Anbieter für eine Kooperation gewinnen können. |
Können Sie uns nähere Informationen über das zukünftige Office geben? | | Hr. Weinert | Wir haben uns dazu entschlossen zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt keine weiteren Informationen zum Office preiszugeben, um haltlosen Spekulationen vorerst keine weitere Grundlage zu bieten. Sobald die Arbeiten und Portierungen an dem Produkt abgeschlossen sind, werden wir weitere Einzelheiten bekannt geben können. |
Können Sie uns Informationen über die Zukunftspläne, welche die Firma magnussoft mit Zeta hat, geben? | | Hr. Weinert | Das Unternehmen wird sich immer auf den Vertrieb von magnussoft ZETA beschränken. Wir stellen lediglich zu Beginn unsere komplette Mannschaft zur Verfügung.Derzeit wird am Aufbau einer eigenen Mannschaft für magnussoft ZETA unter eigener Flagge gearbeitet. Später soll diese dann den Teil Entwicklung fortführen. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt wird sich magnussoft mit allem beschäftigen, was nicht zur Programmierung gehört, die neue Programmierer-Mannschaft wird sich dann ausschließlich der Entwicklung widmen. |
Heißt das also, dass magnussoft die Entwicklung von yellowTAB übernommen hat bzw weiterführt? | | Hr. Weinert | Das stimmt nur teilweise. Die Entwicklung von magnussoft ZETA wird auf jeden Fall weitergeführt, jedoch wird die Entwicklung nicht von magnussoft übernommen. Unser Unternehmen stellt momentan lediglich Kapazitäten zum Aufbau eines eigenen Entwicklerteams für magnussoft ZETA zur Verfügung. Sobald dieses Team aufgestellt ist und seine Arbeit selbstständig weiterführen kann, wird sich magnussoft vollkommen auf den Vertrieb und damit verbundene Aufgaben konzentrieren. |
Wird Herr Bernd Korz auch bei dieser neuen Programmierer-Mannschaft dabei sein oder in irgendeiner Weise involviert sein? | | Hr. Weinert | Wir freuen uns sehr darüber, dass sich Herr Korz bereit erklärt hat, weiter in beratender Funktion an der Entwicklung teilzuhaben. Seine Erfahrungen rund um die Entwicklung des Betriebssystems sind eine große Hilfe für das gesamte Team. |
Welche Neuerungen wird es in der "magnussoft Zeta 1.2" Version geben? | | Hr. Weinert | Sämtliche Neuerungen aufzulisten halte ich für wenig sinnvoll, daher möchte ich Ihnen nur die wichtigsten Änderungen nennen. Vor allem wurden viele Bugfixes vorgenommen unter anderem im Expander, Yahoo Messenger und ndis. Die Aktualisierung der Treiber konnte wieder ein gutes Stück weiter vorangetrieben werden. Widgetbereinigungen in der Deskbar und dem Tracker sowie eine Vielzahl von Lokalisierungen konnten vollzogen werden. Darüber hinaus gab es etliche kleinere Fixes, die magnussoft ZETA noch besser machen. Für eine weiterführende Liste möchte ich aber auch hier auf die neuen Internetseiten verweisen. |
Warum heißt eigentlich die erste magnussoft Zeta Version auch Version 1.2? Schließlich ist dies etwas verwirrend für die Kunden, welche ein Zeta 1.2 haben - aber eben von yellowTAB. | | Hr. Weinert | Die für Juni geplante ZETA Version von magnussoft wird voraussichtlich unter dem Kürzel 1.21 vermarktet, um Verwirrung unter den Kunden zu vermeiden. Diese Lösung halten wir für transparent und am aussagekräftigsten. Zumal so der Widererkennungswert und die Änderungen gleichermaßen berücksichtigt werden können. |
Können Sie uns Informationen über Zeta 1.3 geben? | | Hr. Weinert | Bitte haben Sie Verständnis dafür, dass wir noch nicht alle unsere Planungen im Vorfeld preisgeben können, wozu leider auch die Entwicklungen und Versionsnummern gehören. Bis zur diesjährigen Games Convention in Leipzig können wir aus strategischen Gründen diesbezüglich keine weiteren Informationen bekannt geben. |
Welche Ziele verfolgt magnussoft mit Zeta? | | Hr. Weinert | magnussoft ZETA soll weltweit als ein alternatives Betriebssystem wahrgenommen werden und einen dem System angemessenen Bekanntheitsgrad erreichen. |

Dear Mr. Weinert, please introduce yourself to our readers. | | Mr. Weinert | Hello Mr Krobath. My name is René Weinert and I am employed at the company magnussoft Deutschland GmbH as a PR manager. Since our enterprise has the worldwide exclusive selling rights of yellowTAB ZETA, I also will take over the PR work for this alternative operating system. |
Magnussoft is still relatively unknown to many of our users. Please give us some information about magnussoft. | | Mr. Weinert | The history of "magnussoft Deutschland GmbH" already started 1982. The main task is the production, licensing and marketing of software for the PC. Meanwhile the enterprise belongs to the most successful playing developers within Germany in the Casual and budget market. The current firm name as "magnussoft Deutschland GmbH" consists in this form since 2003. Started in the eighties as a small one meanwhile further branch offices were found in Spain and Holland. Also sales goes international ways. The products can be found international in the Benelux countries as well as Canada and the USA next to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Distributors take over the distribution on these well-known markets partially. |
How did magnussoft get aware of yellowTABs Zeta? | | Mr. Weinert | We got attentive on the OS by a support enquiry which aimed to port a game for yellowTAB ZETA. Through this the first stone came to roll into this. |
What connection is there between the company magnussoft and the company yellowTAB? | | Mr. Weinert | Except for the sales partnership of the product yellowTAB ZETA there is no further connection between these two enterprises. |
Have you already tried out Zeta and what experiences have you made with it? | | Mr. Weinert | I have already dealt a little bit with the system because of pure curiosity and his speed and user kindness surprises me. However, as a PR manager I prefer to leave testing and developing to the beta testers and developers. |
Could you explain the current situation around zeta a little bit? | | Mr. Weinert | All new developments around magnussoft Zeta will be directly published on the new portal www.zeta-os.com. As soon as there are news about magnussoft ZETA and the environment, these will be published without delay. I can’t say more about think that are not published yet on the website. |
On www.zeta-os.com you wrote about a new developer, can you tell us more about this? | | Mr. Weinert | At present, there are hearings with different developers which we deduct from other projects. Partial from our own but also of other. We should have a solid developer core unite of approx 10 specialists by the end of June. These will superficially deal with the elimination of the many small edges in yellowTAB ZETA and the drivers situated in yellowTAB ZETA. In addition, we work on really professional software for magnussoft ZETA. There already is very good software in the graphic area but an Office Package is urgently required. We have stopped the work on Open Office and we have been able to win a well-known alternate Office vendor for cooperation. |
Can you give us more information about the future Office? | | Mr. Weinert | We have decided not to publish any further information about this because we don’t want to give any base for speculations. As soon as the work and porting at the product are completed, we will be able to announce more details. |
Can you give us informations about future magnussoft zeta? | | Mr. Weinert | The enterprise will always confine itself to the distribution of magnussoft ZETA. We make our complete team available merely at the beginning. At present, the construction of a team under its own flag is worked on for magnussoft ZETA. Later, this shall continue the part development. From this time on magnussoft will deal with everything, except programming, the new programmer team will exclusively devote on developing. |
Does this mean that magnussoft did take over and/or continuing the development from yellowTAB? | | Mr. Weinert | This is only partially correct. In any case the development of magnussoft ZETA is continued, the development, however, is not taken on by magnussoft. Our enterprise is making merely capacities available to the construction of a developer team of its own for magnussoft ZETA at the moment. As soon as this team is built and can continue its work independently, magnussoft will concentrate on the sales and tasks connected with that completely. |
Will Mr Bernd Korz take part or be involved in any way also with this new programmer team? | | Mr. Weinert | We are very pleased that Mr Korz has agreed to participate in the development in a consulting function further. His experience around the development of the operating system is a great help for the complete team. |
Which innovations will there be in the "magnussoft zeta 1.2" version? | | Mr. Weinert | In my opinion it make no sense to list all innovations, therefore I would like to mention only the most important changes to you. Above all we did many bugfixes especially in the expander, Yahoo Messenger and ndis. The updates of the drivers have been advanced a good piece further again. Widgets cleaning in the Deskbar and the Tracker as well as a variety of localizations have been performed. Furthermore there was quite a number of smaller fixes which makes magnussoft ZETA better. For a secondary list, however, I would like to refer also here to the new internet pages. |
Why is the first version of magnussoft zeta also called version 1.2? This is tangling a little for customers however who already have a zeta 1.2 version just from yellowTAB. | | Mr. Weinert | The magnussoft zeta version planned for June is commercialized under the version number 1.21 to avoid confusion among the customers. In our opinion this solution is transparently and meaningful. Particularly the reconnaissance value and the changes can be considered. |
Can you give us information about zeta 1.3? | | Mr. Weinert | Please understand that we cannot reveal all our plannings in the front-end yet the developments and version numbers unfortunately also are part of. We cannot announce further information for strategic reasons regarding this up to this year's Games Convention in Leipzig. |
Which aims does magnussoft pursue with zeta? | | Mr. Weinert | magnussoft ZETA shall be perceived worldwide as an alternate operating system and reach a publicity adequate to the system. |
Would you like to inform our readers about something due to the completion of this interview? | | Hr. Weinert | We are pleased about the support and the interest which the operating system is still enjoying. The great and enthusiastic community around this OS is part of the potentials of the product.
